Canon 1N // Superia 400

I'm usually not the biggest fan of the color pink, but I do love the way Superia renders it, and all those pink-ish tones in this photo. I need to get my hands on some medium format Superia for the Mamiya.

In other news, I've been spending time away from the internet and it's been great. There was much less feeling sad about the lack of comments (when did we get addicted to "like" buttons and stopped telling people simple things such as "oh, I love this"?), and fewer migraines. I also got more reading done and made a little bit of money to pay some bills and buy a light meter.
Additionally, it's been a big incentive to find a better (less temporary than say, 3 days) job that doesn't involve standing in one spot for five hours straight while asking "Do you have a moment for (insert name of charity here)?" I'm applying for jobs left and right and putting together a project that I'm super excited about that will require a couple hundred dollars or more, hence the need for a new job. Oh, life in your late twenties!

  2. The pink tones are lovely here. I rarely like my results from Superia 400, but I see others, like you, make beautiful and evocative images with the film.

Spending some time away from the internet every now and then is a good idea. I did so myself last week by necessity, since I was visiting family out-of-state. I'm with you against the whole "like" mentality; that is one reason I have stepped away from Tumblr, where my most banal images of cats or flowers inevitably receive the most likes.

Good luck with the job and project!

    1. Haha, yes, I hear you on the banal photos that receive the most likes. Sadly, I think Flickr is like that sometimes, too. I see an image from a shoot that I absolutely love which gets about 45 views and something I took quickly at a restaurant getting 100+ and wonder why. You probably feel that way about the portraits you've taken of your friends lately.

I need to try Superia through the Mamiya soon to see if I like it for skin tones too.

And thank you! I have an interview on Monday, we'll see how it goes!

  3. you are right about the like button. it is so easy and you don't have to come up with something to say, or feel bad that your only comment is "i love this!" haha. i hope you find a job that isn't terrible!

    1. Sometimes, I do feel dumb about saying "I love this" and notice that all of my comments start with "I love" but then I know that it's better than just adding something as a favorite.

And thank you! I hope I can find something not soul sucking.

  4. I'm with you; I too have recently discovered the joy of Superia…it seems to be one film that rarely needs the colours corrected!
I'm on a break too, having had a bit of an internet meltdown a few weeks ago, although still lurking around interesting blogs :) It is certainly making me re-evaluate my online presence, and question what I really want to share and comment on.

    1. That's very true about color correction for Superia.

    1. It is really cheap for 35mm but not so much in 120, unfortunately. I like that it's not a pink that's in your face romantic, you know? It doesn't beat you over the head with its pinkness.
And thank you! Luck is right in this situation!
